Why Your Hair Hates Winter (And How to Fix It)
Dry air, static, hat hair, brittle ends… winter can be brutal on your hair. Wisconsin winters — honestly any time from November to April — can be brutal on our skin and hair. If you’ve noticed more breakage, dullness, or tangles, it’s not in your head — blame the weather. Here’s what’s actually going on and how to shift your routine accordingly.
Cooler temps and forced indoor heat suck the moisture out of your strands. Add in scarves rubbing at your nape and you’ve got a recipe for friction and frizz.
What your hair needs now:
Hydration: Not just conditioner. We’re talking deep moisture masks and leave-ins. Ask us what you should be using weekly. Ask us for an add-on when you’re in for your appointment and we can add a specialized treatment!
Thermal Protection: If you’re still heat-styling without protection… it’s time. We have favorites in-salon and can customize recs for your hair type.
Scalp Support: Drier scalps mean more flakes, itch, and buildup. A clarifying or exfoliating treatment might be the reset you didn’t know you needed.
Color-treated or extension-wearing clients need even more support this time of year. Come in for a gloss refresh or hydration add-on to keep things shiny, healthy, and strong. While we always do our best to accommodate these add-ons at appointment time, booking them in ahead of time is a great idea!
