What Is a Head Spa? Coming Soon to White Brick
We need to tell you what a head spa actually is — because most people have it wrong.
When people hear 'head spa,' they picture a fancy shampoo. A nicer wash bowl. A bowl with a view, maybe. That's not what this is.
A head spa is a scalp ritual. Not a service. Not a treatment. A ritual — which means it's a sequence of intentional steps designed to do one specific thing: bring your nervous system all the way down.
We're building this experience at White Brick. It opens this summer inside the lounge. And we want to explain what it actually is before it's live — because if you're the kind of person this is designed for, you're going to want to be on the list.
What's Actually Happening During a Head Spa
A head spa ritual combines scalp cleansing, exfoliation, steam therapy, and massage — but that list doesn't capture what it feels like to be in one. The sequence is specifically designed to work on the nervous system through the scalp and neck. It's not relaxing the way a regular massage is relaxing. It's quieter than that.
Therapists use the scalp because it's one of the most nerve-dense areas of the body. Targeted pressure, warmth, and rhythm applied to the scalp and the back of the neck activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the part of your body that actually lets you exhale. It's why people come out of a good head spa looking lighter. Not because of the product. Because their body finally let go of something.
At White Brick, every ritual starts with a scalp exfoliation and mask to remove buildup and reset the scalp environment. Then steam, a full scalp and shoulder massage, aromatherapy, and a sensory close that varies by which ritual you're in. You finish with a rough dry so you can actually walk out the door.
Experiences subject to change a bit as we finalize the ritual, but we wanted to give you an idea while it’s in final steps. Our team is going deep on this because it’s so life-changing…
The Three Rituals We're Offering
We built three tiers based on what our clients actually need — a 30-minute version for the in-between weeks, a 60 or 90-minute signature ritual, and a full 90-minute immersive experience that's in a different category entirely.
The Reset — 30 minutes
Built for extension clients between reinstalls, for the week that ran too long, or for any time your scalp and shoulders need to come down fast. Double cleanse, mineral mud mask, steam, scalp and shoulder massage, aromatherapy, rough dry. In and out in 30 minutes. Most of our clients are going to book this one the most.
The Golden Hour Ritual — 60 or 90 minutes
Everything in The Reset, plus extended massage work, a hot towel layer, a custom scalp treatment built for what your hair needs that month, a cooling eye mask, and a low sound therapy layer running through the room. This is the one where you actually lose track of time. Where an hour feels like four.
The Sanctuary — 90 minutes
Everything in The Golden Hour Ritual, layered with red light scalp therapy, a CBD scalp serum upgrade, grounding sensory elements placed across the body, a hand and arm massage, warm-towel foot compression, a weighted blanket, and a closing sound therapy moment. You finish with a full blowout, not just a rough dry, and herbal mushroom tea on the way out the door. We built this one for the people who have been holding it together for everyone else for too long. You know who you are.
Who This Is For
Honestly? Anyone. But the clients I had specifically in mind when we designed this:
Extension clients — your scalp carries the weight of your install for 6-8 weeks. The Reset is the midpoint ritual your scalp has been asking for.
Color clients with chronic scalp tension or buildup
People who hold their stress in their neck and shoulders (which is all of us)
Anyone who can't remember the last time they were somewhere quiet for more than 20 minutes
Clients going through a health shift, postpartum recovery, or a season where they need to put something back in
You don't need a reason. Wanting to feel like yourself again is enough.
Where It Lives
The head spa rituals are happening inside White Brick Skin + Body Lounge — the dedicated lounge space we've been building out. It's designed to be quiet. Warm. Low-stimulation. It feels nothing like the buzz main floor of the salon (which we obviously still love), by design.
We're not open for head spa bookings yet. We're close. Shoot us a note at hello@whitebricksalon.com letting us know you want to be first on the list when booking opens. Use “HEADSPA” in the subject. Can’t wait to transport you…
